Memrise is based on three principles that we believe are absolutely essential for acquiring a language: Learn, Immerse and Communicate. First, we teach you vocabulary that you’re actually going to use. Next, we show you that language in real-life contexts, through immersive videos. Finally, you use what you’ve learned to practice conversing confidently.
So, the reason it might seem like we are pushing video exercises is that we truly believe immersion is the key to successfully acquiring a language. Our mission is to give learners the skills and confidence to go out and speak in the real world and we know this won't come easily if users only use the Learn and Review functions.
